South Mountain County Park,
Mt. Ivy
Rockland Co.
New York
Hiking Trails:
Long Path: Green blaze
Total Time: 0:50 hour
Estimated Distance: 2 Miles
Pros: Good climb and nice view, very quiet area
Cons: Not enough views along the ridge
I was off for Labor Day, and took a short hike nearby in the afternoon. I parked at the small parking area at Gurnee County Park, and took the Long Path up above the quarry above the quarry wall, where there is an expansive view of the Ramapo Mountains facing north and west. After this point along the hike there are no longer any views. I continued along the Long Path for about a mile and then headed back along the same route which I came.
